 Chiropractic.

Today we understand that the body is controlled by our nervous system, which regulates your breathing, your immune system, your healing, your mood, heart rate and our sense of pain among many other functions.

Chiropractic recognizes that bones out of place directly affect how well the body and nervous system function. There are of course other things that negatively affect how the body and nervous system perform which many chiropractors can also address.

The chiropractor’s duty is to find these problems and adjust the bones back into position. Chiropractor’s use their hands to deliver a range of techniques which increase the mobility of joints and relieve muscle and fascial tension, and helps your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Advanced Biostructural Correction (ABC)

Have you ever noticed how a lot of people especially the elderly, look stopped, struggle to walk, appear to be in a lot of discomfort, have rounded shoulders and their head looks like it’s almost falling off their shoulders? Do you think this is a normal part of aging? Well, it’s not! Normal posture would be perfectly upright, shoulders back, chest open, breathing fully and looking comfortable and well. ABC is a technique that restores normal spinal alignment and stress distribution, posture and spinal nerve function.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together. Osteopathy works in the same sense as Chiropractic, as for your body to function well and heal, its structure needs to be optimal. So osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible without the use of drugs or surgery, just as Chiropractic does.

Acupuncture

Western medical acupuncture is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles; it is an adaptation of Chinese acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology, and the principles of evidence based medicine. It acts mainly by stimulating the nervous system, releasing chemicals that help reduce pain and inflammation and influence mood and mental state. Acupuncture helps balance the body’s internal environment, known as homeostasis and this facilitates and increases the body’s healing potential.

Remedial Massage

Massage attempts to break the pain -spasm-pain cycle long enough to initiate self healing and repair. The massage treatment will also attempt to stretch short tight muscle and activate weak inhibited muscle. Once the body has been prepared for repair, the original cause, can then be addressed by a chiropractor or osteopath.

Parents and Pregnancy

Women experience an increase in lumbar curving due to the increased weight being carried out in front. This puts more pressure on some of the joints of the spine which can cause discomfort or pain. Care during pregnancy helps maintain balanced alignment and flexibility and is also reported to help with a less traumatic birth.

Babies

Birth can stress a baby’s spine and they benefit from gentle adjustments. Preliminary studies suggest that colic, unusual crying, poor appetite, ear infections and erratic sleeping patterns can be signs of spinal distress.
